The Benson Bruins had their jetpacks on as they were flying all over the field both defensively and offensively in their championship game against the CD Panthers. Benson recovered a fumble by CD’s Zavion Watkins on the first play of the game. The play led to a 4-yard touchdown run by Benson’s Damari “Mar Mar” King with 7:37 left in the first quarter, as the Bruins took a 6-0 lead.
Soon after, the Bruins’ opened the flood gates as they scored quickly and often. The Bruins’ Tyson Glenn-Thomas intercepted a pass at the Bruin 46 yard line. That Play set-up a 43-yard touchdown run by Micah Meneese with 4:57 left in quarter. After a strong defensive stand deep in their own territory, Benson’s Reylen Witherspoon scored on a 90-yard run with 37 seconds left in the quarter. After a successful extra point attempt by Micah Meneese the Bruins held a 19-0 lead.
The Bruin lead increased to 25-0 when King broke free on a 40-yard touchdown run, and then Micah Meneese connected with his brother, Marques Meneese on a 10 yard touchdown pass, as Benson took a 32-0 lead into the half after a successful pat by Kellen Hightower.
In the third quarter, Micah Meneese returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown, before he closed out the scoring with his third rushing touchdown (4th total) on the day as they Bruins walked away with a 51-0 shutout victory in the championship game, and ended their season undefeated.
