An off duty Portland police officer was charged with sex abuse after pulling a woman’s hair and grabbing her vagina. Police sergeant Darke Hull was arrested and charged on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022. The prosecutor hit him with third-degree sex abuse and harassment charges.
The horrifying incident took place at a Washington County sports bar in October, authorities said. Sergeant Darke Hull, 46, was cited and released, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Deputies responded to Toby’s Sports Pub on Southwest Hall Boulevard in Metzger shortly after 10 p.m. on Oct. 29. The woman told deputies that officer Hull had “inappropriately touched” her and pulled her hair while at the bar the night before, the sheriff’s office said.
Police officer Hull is a supervisor and 23-year member of the Portland Police Bureau. He is assigned to the Traffic Division. There is no news of weather officer Hull received any favors as a result of being a cop – although he was not arrested until much later.
Deputies reviewed surveillance footage that showed a man, later identified as Hull, touching the woman’s groin and pulling her hair “unprovoked.” The next day, the sheriff’s office notified the Portland Police Bureau’s Professional Standards Division that it was investigating officer Hull. The bureau then placed sergeant Hull on administrative leave.
