Portland Police Arrest Teenager After Shooting Injures Four At Private Event

Authorities have apprehended a teenage suspect linked to a shooting that left four people wounded at a private event venue in Portland. The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported that the incident took place last Friday evening.

At approximately 9:43 PM, officers from the East Precinct and the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) responded to the scene located in the 14900 block of Southeast Stark Street, where they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The injured individuals include a 15-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman. All victims received trauma first aid on-site before being transported to the hospital. Despite the nature of their injuries, medical professionals anticipate that all four will recover, thanks to the prompt emergency care they received.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the area, prompting officers to conduct interviews with over 100 individuals nearby. They established a perimeter based on witness information and images shared by those present at the scene.

A tip from a community member led to the discovery of two individuals hiding in a backyard shed on Southeast 160th Avenue, located approximately 15 blocks from where the shooting occurred. Officers utilized a loudspeaker to persuade the pair to exit the shed peacefully, detaining them without incident around 10:43 PM. The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) and the Forensic Evidence Division (FED) later arrived to investigate and process the crime scene.

Investigators determined that the shooter had discharged at least 25 rounds, damaging vehicles and other property in addition to injuring the four victims.

The main suspect, a 16-year-old male from Portland, has been charged with multiple offenses, including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree. The PPB confirmed that the other detained individual, a 17-year-old female, was interviewed and subsequently released without charges.
