Suspect Arrested In North Portland Road Rage Shooting

The Portland Police Bureau has arrested a suspect in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred in North Portland earlier this year.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, to reports of a shooting near North Denver Avenue and North Schofield Street. Investigators determined that an adult man was driving in the area when another man in a separate vehicle fired a gun at him. The victim was not injured.

The case was later assigned to the Portland Police Bureau’s Enhanced Community Safety Team for follow-up investigation. Detectives identified a suspect through that investigation.

On the morning of April 15, officers with the bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of North Argyle Street. During the operation, officers arrested the suspect and recovered two firearms.

Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Joey A. Radford. Joey A. Radford was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of attempted assault in the first degree, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

“This arrest reflects the dedication and coordination of our investigative and tactical teams in holding individuals accountable for violent behavior in our community,” Chief Bob Day said. “Road rage incidents involving firearms are especially dangerous. We are grateful that no one was injured in this case, and we remain committed to ensuring the safety of Portland residents.”
