Man Stabbed In Old Town

The was violence in the Old Town neighborhood as police are reporting a stabbing. The suspect was arrested and faces a felony assault charge after shanking a security guard in the head. The weapon was created with a dirty white plastic bottle with the label “PRO CURE BLOODY TUNA OIL” with two sharp green pencils sticking out of the bottle.

The suspect, Samuel J. Kusaj, 51, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. 

The victim’s injury was non-life-threatening. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was ordering coffee when the suspect walked up behind him. The investigation revealed that the victim was stabbed without warning. It was also reported that the victim was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time.  Pencils pierced part of the helmet as well as his skin. 

The Central Precinct officers responded to a report of a stabbing near Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest Couch Street. The victim followed the suspect after the stabbing. Police officers caught up with the suspect at Northwest Broadway and Northwest Hoyt Street and arrested him.
