Man Dead In Hit-And-Run In Southeast Portland

A hit-and-run in Southeast Portland caused the death of a man last Friday. Law enforcement said over a dozen fatalities and seven pedestrian crashed marks this point in 2022. At around 7pm, police responded to the call near Southeast Foster Road and 110th Drive. The suspect did not stay on the scene located In the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.

Later that evening, police sent out a press release stating that they were not releasing a suspect description at this time. Portland saw 63 traffic deaths in 2021. It is the most since 1990. Pedestrians accounted for 27 traffic deaths.In 2020 there were 18.

Police are asking the public to get involved. The public is be asked to report any and all crimes and emergency. Some citizens refuse to get involved unless the person is a friend or relative. 

Some citizens are comfortable reporting crimes and feel that it is a civic duty and makes the community safer. If a crime is reported the person who committed the crime is more likely to be arrested and kept from doing the crime again. Some may need help in reporting a crime. Citizens can find a local victim service organization to get help and support.
