Fire In Hillsboro

According to Hillsboro officials, a fire was caused by “combustible materials that ignited from a baseboard heater in a bedroom.” With them stating, “Hillsboro Fire & Rescue reminds you to keep all combustible materials at least three feet away from all heaters and heat sources in your home at all times. Test your home’s smoke alarms at least once per month and practice your home fire escape plan with your family members.” Home fires are common this time of year.

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue reported that three units in total were impacted by the fire, displacing the residents of those apartments. No injuries were reported in connection to the incident. The Red Cross has been sent to help the 17 people displaced by the residential fire. TriMet also dispatched a bus to the neighborhood for the victims due to the cold temperatures.

East Main Street was temporarily shut down between 10th and 12th Saturday afternoon as emergency crews responded to the scene. Fire officials said crews had the blaze extinguished within six minutes of arriving. Three out of 10 units burned. They eventually got the fire under control.
