
In a momentous occasion, Kobi Flowers, a pre-med major seeking to be a Howard University pre-med student, has been officially crowned the 110th Rose Festival Queen. Flowers, recognized for her outstanding contributions to her school and community, as well as her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the world, has earned the highly coveted role, according to the Portland Rose Festival.
Assuming the role as the Queen, Flowers will serve as a representative of both the city and the Rose Festival for the duration of one year. She will make appearances across the country, embodying the spirit and charm of Portland.
Flowers has demonstrated her leadership abilities in various capacities, serving as the varsity cheer captain and secretary of student government at Jefferson High School. Additionally, she has actively participated in the Black Student Union, showcasing her dedication to fostering inclusivity and empowering her peers. Flowers has also been an integral part of the leadership team at Self Enhancement, Inc., a notable Portland nonprofit organization.
Expressing her humility, Flowers expressed that she did not anticipate being crowned as the Rose Festival Queen but is immensely grateful for the opportunity bestowed upon her. Her journey will continue in the fall as she commences her studies at Howard University’s College of Medicine, with aspirations of becoming an anesthesiologist or pharmacist.
Flowers, accompanied by the Rose Festival Court, will be a prominent presence in the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday morning. They will be riding on the Unitus Community Credit Union float, captivating the audience with their grace and poise.
The Portland Rose Festival is thrilled to have Kobi Flowers as their reigning Queen and looks forward to her reign, confident that she will carry out her duties with grace, passion, and a commitment to uplifting others.
