Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested

Police said that a suspect who is connected to over a dozen robberies in Portland has been arrested. Last Tuesday, June 7 at 3:46p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at a bar in the 800 block of North Lombard Street. While officers were enroute, they were provided with a detailed description of the suspect. A Public Safety Support Specialist on patrol saw the suspect driving away and radioed to other units.

The suspect was ultimately tracked to an apartment in the 0 block of North Hayden Bay Drive. The police observed the suspect driving a high rate of speed, weaving through traffic. The suspect parked the car and jumped out near the 200 block of North Hayden Bay Drive. Numerous officers and a K9 unit responded to assist.

They booked Andrey R. Mazur, 32, in the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Robbery in the Second Degree (2 counts, one for each of the above-mentioned robberies).

Detectives have connected Mazur to as many as 14 other robberies in Portland going back to May 9, 2022, and further charges are expected.

The suspect was believed to be armed with a gun. They deployed the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) to the scene. After numerous attempts to contact the suspect over at least four hours, the suspect surrendered. He had shaved his hair off in an attempt to change his appearance. A gun, which was determined to be a semiautomatic handgun replica, was seized as evidence.

Robbery Detectives connected the suspect to another robbery that was called in June 7 at 2:24p.m. at a coffee bar in the 2000 block of North McClellan Street.
