The Portland Fire Investigations Unit is asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in connection with an arson fire that prompted a large emergency response in Northeast Portland.
The fire occurred around 10:45 p.m. on April 11 in the 100 block of Northeast 100th Avenue at the future site of a recovery facility. The blaze escalated to a third-alarm response before firefighters were able to bring it under control.
Investigators later determined the fire was intentionally set. Officials said there is currently no evidence indicating the facility was specifically targeted.
The Fire Investigations Unit—comprised of personnel from the Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue—has released an image of a person of interest believed to be connected to the case.
Authorities said the individual is known to frequent the area bounded by Northeast Glisan Street and East Burnside Street, and Northeast 102nd Avenue to Interstate 205.
