A car was found rolled over after it had hit multiple objects, including a utility pole. Two people were pronounced dead and a third was taken to a hospital with critical injuries, officers said which involved a single vehicle around 2:55 a.m. on North Lombard Street. The names of the three people involved in the crash have not been released.
According to the Portland Police, there has been 62 fatal crashes on Portland roadways and 26 pedestrian fatalities to date. This is the highest number of roadway crashes since 1990 which had 63 deaths.
Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team is investigating the crash. A section of North Lombard from Chautauqua Boulevard to Wayland Avenue was closed for the investigation. Nearly a dozen police units are still at the scene.
