One Dead, Another Injured In Downtown Portland Shooting

One man was killed and another injured Tuesday night following a shooting in downtown Portland, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Officers assigned to Central Precinct responded at approximately 10:36 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest Harvey Milk Street. When officers arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said officers immediately began providing life-saving aid until paramedics arrived at the scene. One victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, while the second victim died at the scene.

Authorities have not released the identities of either victim pending notification of family members.

The suspect or suspects fled the area before officers arrived, and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.

The Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

As detectives process the scene, several downtown streets remain closed, including Southwest Naito Parkway between Southwest Oak Street and Southwest Harvey Milk Street, as well as Southwest Oak Street between Southwest Naito Parkway and Southwest 2nd Avenue.
