Major Oregon Snow Alert This Year

The Pacific Northwest is bringing snow to the Willamette Valley and the rest of Oregon.  Power outages were reported throughout the state. Pacific Power had more than 5,500 customers experiencing unplanned outages across Oregon.  In Clatsop County, 1,621 customers were without power. In Douglas County, 14 outages left 2,488 customers in the dark and in Josephine County, 1,400 people were waking up to no power Sunday. There were a few more customers in other counties impacted as well.

Traffic cameras showed snowy highways across Oregon on Sunday morning with deep snow on Cascade Mountain passes. Experts are still expecting around 1 to 3 inches of snow in the Willamette Valley, Snow showers for the Oregon coast, and for those east of the Cascades. Heavier snowfall had already fallen in higher elevations across other parts of the region. Residents of Mount Hood ski resorts reported 12 inches of new snow overnight.

Snowfall is forecast to varying degrees in Portland throughout the week, according to weather forecasts, mixing with rain starting Thursday night through at least New Year’s Day.
