African-American Victim In Montavilla Neighborhood Shooting Identified

The individual who tragically lost his life in the Montavilla Neighborhood shooting has been identified as Jamirion Smith-Belhumeur, an 18-year-old from Portland. The family of Smith-Belhumeur has been notified of his untimely death. While they have provided a photo for public release, they are currently requesting privacy during this difficult time.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that Smith-Belhumeur’s cause of death was homicide due to gunshot wounds. The shocking incident occurred on Monday, March 25, 2024, at approximately 4:25 p.m. It took place in the vicinity of Northeast 93rd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. Upon receiving reports of a shooting, officers from the East Precinct swiftly responded to the scene.

When the officers arrived, they discovered an adult male who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to administer life-saving measures, tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
