Xavier University of Louisiana's new Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine has received preliminary LCME approval, becoming the nation's fifth HBCU medical school and the only one in the Gulf South. Set to enroll its first class of 50 students in 2027, the school aims to address physician shortages and expand diversity in medicine.
