Bluefield State’s Hinds Named Player Of The Year, Leads HBCU D2 All-America Team

With conference tournaments wrapped up and NCAA Regional play set to begin this week, the 16th annual Division II HBCU All-America teams powered by BOXTOROW are released.

Bluefield State guard Jordan Hinds has been named HBCU Division II Player of the Year. The senior from Tamarac, Fla., helped lead Big Blue to a second place finish in the CIAA Northern Division, a berth in the CIAA Tournament championship game, and an at-large berth in the NCAA Regional. He leads the conference in scoring (20.3) and is fourth in field goal percentage (.491). He also is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game and is shooting 37 percent from three-point range. Hinds was named to the HBCU All-America first team in 2024.

Virginia State head coach Lonnie Blow has been named HBCU Division II Coach of the Year. In his 11th season as head coach, he led the Trojans to the CIAA Tournament championship, his third as head coach at VSU. The Trojans are 21-8 and are the No. 3 seed heading into this weekend’s NCAA Regional. This is the fourth time Blow has been named HBCU Division II Coach of the Year.
