The Portland Office of Violence Prevention is accepting applications for its 2026 Spring Break Youth Safety Initiative Sponsorship, a community-based funding program aimed at reducing youth violence, with a primary focus on gun violence. The initiative supports collaborative efforts that engage young people in safe, positive activities during Spring Break, which runs from March 21 through March 29.
A total of $180,000 in funding is available, with individual grants of up to $15,000. Award amounts may vary depending on the size, scope, and anticipated impact of each proposed program. Applications must be submitted by February 18, 2026, at 12 p.m.
Organizations eligible to apply include those located in Oregon and Washington, provided they offer services within the City of Portland or Multnomah County.
Past initiatives supported by the sponsorship include workshops, recreational events, mentorship and mediation programs, arts and cultural activities, and job training. This year’s sponsorship will continue to fund a wide range of youth-centered programs designed to promote safety and resilience, including:
· Violence prevention camps, events, and educational workshops
· Youth and adult mediation and mentoring efforts
· Direct assistance and support services to community members
· Workforce development, job training, and placement programs
· Recreational and athletic activities that foster connection and engagement
The goal of the initiative is to empower trusted local organizations to create safe environments and meaningful opportunities for young people during a time when youth violence can often escalate.
