Multnomah County Urges Voters To Check Mailboxes Ahead Of May 19 Primary Election

All eligible Multnomah County voters should have received their ballots by Thursday for Oregon’s May 19, 2026, Primary Election, county elections officials announced this week.

County officials are encouraging voters who have not yet received a ballot, or who need a replacement, to contact Multnomah County Elections as soon as possible to avoid delays ahead of Election Day.

Voters can request replacement ballots by calling the Elections Division at 503-988-VOTE (8683) or by using the county’s online Order Ahead Replacement Ballot Service, which allows voters to request a replacement by mail or schedule an in-person pickup at designated “will call” windows.

Replacement ballots can be picked up at the Voting Center Express in Gresham, located inside the Multnomah County East Building at 600 N.E. 8th St., or at the Multnomah County Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building at 1040 S.E. Morrison St. in Portland.

Officials say voters have two primary options for returning completed ballots.

Ballots may be deposited at any official ballot drop box in Oregon. Multnomah County currently offers more than 30 official ballot drop sites, including 24-hour Multnomah County Library drop locations and ballot boxes at both county voter service centers.

Voters may also return ballots by mail without postage.

However, county elections officials recommend mailing ballots no later than Thursday, May 14, to help ensure ballots are postmarked and received in time to be counted. After May 14, voters are encouraged to request a hand-cancelled postmark at their local post office if mailing ballots closer to Election Day.

Election officials are also encouraging voters to enroll in the county’s “Track Your Ballot” service, which provides updates by text, email, or voice alert when ballots are mailed, received, and accepted for counting. The service is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

As Election Day approaches, Multnomah County Elections will extend office hours at both voter service centers to assist residents with registration updates, replacement ballots, language assistance, and accessibility services.

Beginning May 13, the county will offer evening and weekend hours, including extended service through 8 p.m. on Election Day, May 19.

County officials also emphasized that free assistance is available for voters with disabilities and for residents who need support in languages other than English, including American Sign Language interpretation.

The May 19 Primary Election includes contests for federal, state, and regional offices, along with ballot measures affecting voters across Oregon.

Final election results are scheduled to be certified June 15.
