County Charter Review Commission Seeks Community Feedback In Online Survey

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Charter Review Commission is seeking community input through an online survey. The survey focuses on proposed amendments to the county charter for consideration of placing them on the 2022 general election ballot.

Residents can access the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2022-Amendments. A Spanish version is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2022-Amendments-Spanish. The survey will be open until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28.

Results from this survey will help inform the commission of public opinion regarding specific charter amendment proposals including ranked choice voting, charter preamble, County Council/Executive Elected Officials’ consultation prior to appointing a new county manager, council vacancy appointment and initiatives and referendum.

Charter Review Commissioners will present information on potential changes to the county’s charter and seek feedback from town hall participants. Anyone wishing to provide written comment to the commission may do so via the county’s website at https://clark.wa.gov/county-manager/meetings-agendas-archives.

Any changes to the charter that the review commission recommends would go to a countywide vote in a general election.

The Charter Review Commission is tasked with reviewing the county’s home rule charter approved by voters in November 2014. This is the first review of the county’s charter; the commission previously forwarded seven amendments to voters in the recently completed November 2021 general election.

Information on the Charter Review Commission can be found on the county’s website at https://clark.wa.gov/county-manager/charter-review-commission-overview.
