Body Found Floating in the Willamette River Near OMSI

A shocking discovery was made in the Willamette River on Thursday morning as a body was found floating along the Eastbank Esplanade. Authorities from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call just before 11:50 a.m., reporting the sighting of the body near OMSI.

Emergency responders, including Portland Fire and boats from the sheriff’s office, swiftly arrived at the scene. They successfully retrieved the body of a man from the river and transported it to Cathedral Park, where it will be examined by the medical examiner as part of the ongoing investigation.

This is not the first incident of its kind in recent days. On Tuesday evening, a passerby reported another body in the Willamette River near the East Bank Esplanade, south of the Burnside Bridge. Deputies and Portland firefighters worked together to recover the body around 8:15 p.m.

Currently, the identity of the deceased individual has not been released. The medical examiner will be working to ascertain their identity and determine the cause of death. Authorities are treating both cases as separate investigations and are working diligently to gather more information.
