Bizarre Witnessing Of Man Carrying Own Severed Arm

Fridays can be the craziest night of the week. However, last Friday morning, Police were informed that a man was injured at AK Market on Park Street. Paramedics were called in time to save the man’s life. He lost his arm, however.

Police were called just before 9:30 in the morning. They headed to Maple Street where a man had a significant arm laceration. Witnesses told the media that the man was carrying his own arm and that it had been cut off at the shoulder.

Two public works employees called for medical help before applying a tourniquet until help arrived. A tourniquet is a device that is used to apply pressure to a limb or extremity in order to stop the flow of blood. People having spent time in the military are usually taught to use this device as amputations are war injuries. It may also be used in emergencies, surgeries, and in post-operative rehabilitation.

A tourniquet is also used to cut off circulation to expose veins such as during blood drawing procedures. Police are still working to identify the man who is expected to survive. The victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where at last check, he was undergoing surgery.

Police said that it may have been a work-related injury. This has caused other agencies to get involved including OSHA. The owner of the business was not available at the time of the injury. Police reportedly followed a trail of blood from where the man was receiving help back to the AK Market.
