A suspect is still at large after a violent altercation on a MAX train platform in Portland’s Goose Hollow neighborhood. The incident resulted in the death of one person. According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), an adult male victim was involved in a confrontation at the MAX platform located at the Providence Park Transit Station. Upon receiving the distress call, officers promptly responded to the scene at Goose Hollow.
The victim then either got back on or boarded a train that eventually made a stop in Goose Hollow. First responders provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, who was subsequently transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. However, despite the efforts of medical professionals, the man was later pronounced dead, as confirmed by the PPB.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the deadly stabbing incident. The suspect remains at large, and law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing all leads to apprehend the individual responsible. Portland Police Chief Bob Day said, “My heart goes out to the victim’s family and friends. For someone to lose their life in a violent crime is unacceptable. For it to happen on Christmas Eve is exponentially worse. I can assure the community our officers and detectives are doing everything in their power on this holiday to track down those responsible.”
The PPB is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. They are particularly interested in hearing from witnesses who were present at either the Providence Park Transit Station or the Goose Hollow MAX train platform on Christmas Eve.
TriMet released a statement on Sunday stating, “It’s believed the victim entered a train following the initial attack. We share condolences with those who are dealing with this loss tonight and loved ones of the person who died.” This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, as residents grapple with another senseless stabbing on the MAX.
