The Portland Medium

Young Dolph a famous rapper born in Chicago but raised in Memphis was shot dead by two unknown assailants on November 17. He was buying cookies from Makeda’s Homemade Cookies in Memphis. At about 1pm Wednesday a gunman drove up and shot through the window of the cookie shop the rapper was visiting. It was reported that Dolph was there a week prior.

The story was his parents were addicted to crack. He wrote about his options for making money in a neighborhood racked by violence. He made a rap career out of the impoverished behavior he endured. Chart topping, Dolph made a name for himself. Dolph started freestyling with his friends as a teenager and began releasing mixtapes in 2008.

Dolph is well known for his rap beefs ranging from southern rappers like Yo Gotti and others being caught in drive by’s and other shootings where he got out by just a hair. This time around he wasn’t so lucky.

Some say that the city may experience more violence behind the death of Young Dolph who was known to give away large amounts of money to strangers. One such incident included some workers who were fired for playing his music. He brought them on stage at a concert and gave them both $20,000 a piece for their troubles. Unfortunately, the rap game lost a legend. Dolph, 36, is survived by a son and a daughter.
