
A tragic accident in the Richmond Neighborhood has resulted in the death of an 87-year-old pedestrian, prompting the closure of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard for several blocks as investigators work to gather details about the incident. The victim has been identified as Grey J. Wolfe, a resident of Portland, and her family has been notified of her passing.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at approximately 5:40 a.m. Portland Police Officers from both the Central and East Precincts responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard and Southeast Harrison Street. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle involved in a crash with a pedestrian. Unfortunately, Portland Fire & Rescue declared Wolfe dead at the scene.
The Portland Police Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of the investigation, Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard is closed to traffic between Southeast Market Street and Southeast Lincoln Street, creating detours for motorists in the area.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver, an adult female operating a 2004 Suzuki Aerio, was traveling south on Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard when she struck Wolfe. The driver remained at the scene and has been fully cooperative with law enforcement throughout the investigation. After being interviewed by police, she was released while the investigation continues.
At this time, no arrests or citations have been issued in connection with the crash, and authorities are still working to establish the full details of what transpired.
