Guess What City Is Nation’s Top For Weed?

Not your city if pot is not legal. This being the week of 420, this information gives a buzz. First, in 1971, five ‘high’ (no pun intended) school students devised a secret code which they used to indicate to each other that they would meet later in the day to smoke weed. After saying “420” to each other in passing in their school hallways, they would then meet at 4.20pm in order to smoke cannabis. Each year, April 20th (4th month 20th day) is the time pot smothers celebrate cannabis.

The king of pot Denver lost its place as the nation’s marijuana mecca, according to an analysis from Clever Real Estate. The new king of grassy hill is (drum roll) Portland, Oregon. The state that has the toughest standards to be in the business was two years behind Colorado in legalizing weed for recreational use. Washington and Colorado legalized it in 2012, while Alaska and Oregon legalized it in 2014.

The scores were based on legality, number of dispensaries and cannabis doctors, dispensaries’ customer ratings, pot prices, Google search trends for marijuana-related terms, public perception and the number of hiking trails, concert venues, and – most importantly – Taco Bells. Oregon rose to the top of the high hill.

Portland has the best weed for the price. This is it’s main draw for those in the know. It’s marijuana is cheaper than other cities’. For instance,  high-quality cannabis costs $210 per ounce in Portland as opposed to $242 in Denver. Portland also has more dispensaries per 100,000 residents – 13.7 to Denver’s 11.5.

None of the California cities are in the top five. Go to Cali and purchase and you may see and feel why. However, California cities are in the top 15. Cali’s numbers come in in how people feel overallabout weed smokers. The state scored particularly high for public perception of weed friendliness.

You probably guess that the worst place to indulge will be somewhere in the conservative South. You will be right because Birmingham, Alabameee, according to Clever’s analysis, hate pot smking. In a survey, actually 1 in 4 people put Birmingham at the bottom as worst city of them all.
