Data Shows Portland Tops For Singles

The personal finance website WalletHub said nearly 50% of all U.S. adults are single. The company said 19% of Gen Zers and 22% of millennials report going into debt for dates. Online dating sites and apps have become the most common place for Americans to meet. Interesting that many of the cities that are doing well in the dating areas are also high tech areas. Online dating seems to be a rescue if not a secret for singles. Portland happens to be a top spot for singles.

A positive of the pandemic is that people can talk to other people from the comfort of their own home. Data from the Statista Digital Market Outlook showed 44.2 million Americans were using online dating services. And this is only projected to increase, with an estimated 53.3 million users by 2025.

The experts say that there are three long-standing mistakes that online dating users continuously make. The first is prioritizing the wrong things where dating apps encourage a degree of superficiality. Many dating apps allow users to pick and choose a person based on pictures, with minimal information into their personality.

The second thing you should know is knowing when to quit. Good advice because online dating presents users with an abundance of options. But too many options can be an issue for most. Finally, exaggerating yourself in your profile is a no no.

According to WalletHub, Portland ranked high for its number of restaurants per capita. It also scored well above average for its online dating opportunities, mobile dating opportunities and percentage of residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
