A deli owner says his store on the corner of Northeast Holladay Street and 11th Avenue was robbed twice this week. He also said that it was robbed by the same person. Kenny Trinh, a long time Portland resident, has owned Union Market & Deli for seven years.
Surveillance video from shows a person coming into the store. The robber asked a person at the counter, “Do you want to get shot?” The man then demanded money from the drawer before emptying it.
The store was robbed again on Friday. The Friday video shows the same person going behind the counter and standing over the cashier as the robber takes the money from the drawer himself.
The man was reported to have taken a few hundred dollars. The video shows the man run out of the store as another customer was walking in.
The owner told the news media that the business was his only income. He told his workers that if somebody wants the money, give it to them, “don’t risk his life.”
Now, the owner is considering moving away. He told the news media that he was ready to sell the store.
