King County will open two new free COVID-19 Testing in Tukwila and Federal Way as they continue to expand testing to help close gaps in South King County.

In addition to tracing, Beaver and her colleagues also provide people who have tested positive for COVID with valuable resources that may be available to them during the time that they may have to quarantine. These resources include groceries, and medical consultations for the uninsured, undocumented or those who do not have access to adequate medical resources.

The Black Future Co-Op Fund, Washington state’s first all Black-led philanthropic organization designed to promote and ignite Black generational health, wealth and well-being, recently elevated its profile and a got boost in visibility due to their partnership with OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

According to PHSCK, 0ver 2,500 appointment slots are available each day, providing additional vaccination opportunities for residents in South King County.

“For years I dealt with thinking I was going to have to be on dialysis. I knew it probably would come to that,” Bridges said. “I did well for nearly 30 years without dialysis, so I didn’t complain about it. I told the doctor `I’ll do whatever I have to do because it will save my life.’ I said `I will get off dialysis, get a transplant. I’m putting my total confidence in your hands.’”

According to officials, this move builds on the ongoing partnership with Boeing to bring critical COVID-19 resources to south King County. At the end of March, the County relocated its Auburn vaccine clinic to the Auburn Outlet Mall at 1101 Outlet Collection Way, also with support from Boeing. This site remains fully operational.

Since launching its vaccination effort on January 14, the City of Seattle has administered over 170,000 vaccinations to eligible adults (over 111,000 individuals).

“Poverty and period poverty go hand-in-glove,” said Rep. April Berg (D-Mill Creek). “More than four in five students have missed class time, or know someone who has, because they didn’t have access to period products. This is holding students back in school, which affects their future. And we needed to do something to fix it.”

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to everyone 12 and older following recommendations that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is safe and extremely effective for 12 to 15-year-olds.

“Seattle’s road to recovery starts with vaccinations. We can’t safely come together again as a city and a community until the vast majority of us are vaccinated, and that includes our younger residents,” said Durkan. “The City is proud to immediately begin offering the Pfizer vaccine to youth throughout our region, and we’ll continue to come up with creative ways to bring the vaccine directly to our communities.”
