Portland, Oregon – In the early hours of Friday, a 47-year-old woman in Portland became a victim of an alleged kidnapping, but managed to escape by jumping from the moving car. The incident unfolded around 1:40 a.m. when the woman was spotted near SE 146th and Division by a 25-year-old man named Ra Fet, who offered her a ride home.
However, when they reached SE 112th, the woman attempted to exit the car. Unfortunately, the driver, later identified as Ra Fet, accelerated and prevented her from leaving. Fearing for her safety, the woman began screaming for help as the car sped off. Fortunately, officers found her hiding in a nearby driveway, although she had sustained injuries including cuts and bruises.
Approximately 40 minutes later, police located Fet’s car and successfully apprehended him. He was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping, sex abuse, coercion, menacing, assault, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment.
Law enforcement officials have not released additional details regarding the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to this case is urged to contact the Portland police.
The terrifying ordeal was captured on video, which shows the woman desperately banging on the front door of a home at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Lincoln Street. She can be heard frantically reporting the attempted abduction to the police.
“He’s trying to abduct me!” she shouted, seeking immediate assistance. The video also shows the suspect driving away, leaving the traumatized woman hiding in the driveway.
According to the victim’s report to the police, the suspect, whom she did not know, pulled over near Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast Division Street and offered her a ride home. However, when they arrived at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Division Street, the woman opened the car door to exit, prompting the suspect to accelerate, trapping her inside.
A physical altercation ensued, during which the suspect allegedly punched the woman in the face. Despite her injuries, the woman managed to summon the courage to jump out of the moving vehicle, sustaining further harm from the fall. Nonetheless, she was able to flee the scene and receive medical attention for her injuries.
Following the incident, the suspect, identified as Ra Fet, fled the area. However, thanks to the distribution of his vehicle’s description to officers actively searching for him, a police officer spotted Fet at 2:21 a.m. The suspect’s car was stopped at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Beech Street.
Ra Fet, 25, was subsequently arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces charges including first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse, coercion, menacing, fourth-degree assault, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.
