Election Day is here, and Multnomah County voters have until 8 p.m. tonight to submit their ballots for the 2024 General Election. Voters can drop off ballots at any of the county’s 24-hour Official Ballot Drop Sites or mail them—mailed ballots must be postmarked by today and received within seven days to be counted.
Election officials encourage voters to use the closest drop site to reduce congestion at busier locations. Teams of election officials will pick up ballots continuously from official sites, all of which close at 8 p.m. promptly. Multnomah County operates 30 drop sites, including at local libraries, listed at multco.us/dropsites.
For those needing assistance, in-person voter services are available at the Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building in Southeast Portland and the Voting Center Express in Gresham until 8 p.m. Voters can access help with lost or damaged ballots, disability accommodations, and language support. Street parking is limited at the Duniway-Lovejoy location, but TriMet routes 15 and 70 are nearby. The Gresham site provides free parking and is accessible by the MAX Blue Line.
To save time, voters needing replacement ballots can order them ahead at multco.us/orderahead for pick-up today at either voter service location.
Multnomah County’s “Track Your Ballot” service, available in multiple languages, also allows voters to follow their ballot’s journey from mailing to final acceptance. Over 144,850 voters are already signed up to receive notifications on ballot status through the Track Your Ballot system.
New Voter Turnout Dashboard and Preliminary Election Results
A newly launched voter turnout dashboard provides real-time insights into the election’s progress, allowing users to view turnout by precinct, jurisdiction, and district. The dashboard, updated on Election Day, estimates total expected turnout and tracks returned and accepted ballots.
Preliminary results will be posted at multnomahvotes.gov shortly after 8 p.m. tonight. For the first time, results will include ranked-choice voting outcomes for Portland races, processed using updated software to handle single- and multi-winner contests. Election officials estimate that initial results will represent about half of expected ballots, with the count expected to reach 90% by Thursday. Ranked-choice voting updates will follow daily by 6 p.m. through the week after Election Day, with final certification scheduled for Dec. 2.

Drop sites are available in neighborhoods across Portland, Fairview, Gresham, and Troutdale, and a full list of locations is accessible at multco.us/dropsites.
