Teen Killed, Child, Woman Wounded In LA

Another tragedy in LA. This time children were involved. A 13-year-old boy was killed and a 9-year-old girl and woman were wounded Monday in a shooting. Responding to news of the deadly shooting, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn said: “This is such a tragedy. Gun violence has destroyed too many lives in this country and tonight it has terrorized another community.” spokesperson Mike Lopez told the media.

The teen and the woman were together when the two were approached by a group of men. At least one person in the group opened fire multiple times, wounding both the woman and child. The SUV was stopped when two armed suspects approached and opened fire, Gonzalez said. The woman drove away before stopping in the 800 block of Eubank Avenue, where someone called 911.

Los Angeles seems to be going through some population transitions. It also has had some high level killings that have rocked the country via national news. This tragedy involved two children and a woman.  Los Angeles police and firefighters responded to the scene at the intersection of North Blinn Avenue and East Denni Street around 4:45 p.m., said Officer Mike Lopez, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman. Paramedics took the boy and woman to a trauma center, where the boy was pronounced dead. The woman was in critical condition but was stable and undergoing surgery.

A 9-year-old girl playing nearby at Wilmington Park Elementary School was hit by a stray bullet, prompting a separate 911 call. She was hospitalized in critical condition, he said. A description of the suspects has not been released and Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Adrian Gonzalez said a motive had not immediately been determined.
